Game Setup

Group Size: 8+

Duration: 20 Minutes

Materials:

  • 1 Foam Square per Participant

  • (2) Game ropes or Start/Finish Lines

Setup

  • Set up a start line.

  • Hand out foam square to each participant before explaining the instructions. If a participant throws or drops their square, take it away.

  • Indicate the direction the team needs to move, but don’t place the finish line yet. This allows you to guage the team’s ability and adjust the challenge.

    • If the team functions well and has extra time, place the finish line farther away or around a corner.

    • If the team struggles or time is limited, place the finish line closer.

Objective and Description

  • The objective is to move the entire team across the finish line

  • Participants can’t touch the ground in the play area, only the foam squares can touch the ground.

  • If a foam square loses contact with a participant, it is removed.

Safety

  • Remove hazards from the play area

  • Spot or prevent participants attempting to perform risky maneuvers, such as stacking too many people on a square, running or jumping.

Debrief/Processing

  • What was your goal in this activity?

  • What did you do to accomplish it?

  • What prevented you from accomplishing your goal?

  • What is a goal that you have in life?

  • What is required of you to accomplish that goal?

  • What is going to prevent you from achieving that goal?

  • How many squares did you start with? How many did you end with?

  • Did you manage your resources well?

  • What can these squares represent in your life?
